Used Outfits for the Thrifty
Woman
Women need to, in these difficult
times of job losses and stress, save money when shopping for
outfits. One solution is consignment clothing. You can look
great and be thrifty too! As many people are turning to
buying less and saving more, the recession pushes them into
becoming more creative with their shopping habits. If you
are struggling in today's economy like many other people
that you know, you have to be especially careful how you
make money, and also how you save money.
You do have to cut back on some things
if money is tight, but all is not lost. One of the first
places people seek to save money is to stop spending as much
on entertainment, clothing, and shoes. You do not have to
give up new clothes entirely, and you can make money with
the older ones you have that you do not want to wear any
longer. Think about consignment clothing options to make or
save money in troubling times.
What is Consignment
Shopping?
Consignment means that something is
put up for sale by the owner, usually through a third party.
When an item is purchased by someone, the middle person
keeps a percentage and the rest of the money is given to the
original owner.
This type of transaction keeps
possession of the items in your hands, as you do not sell
them to the consignment shop. They just agree to display and
sell your items for you for a fee, but if they do not sell,
they go back to you, usually without any fee. Consignment
clothing has been around for a long time, but is gaining in
popularity as the economy tanks.
If you want to get in on the
consignment clothing action, start looking around your
community to see if you can find a consignment shop near
you. You obviously don't want to go to a lot of work if you
do not have someone to help you with your
endeavor.
Selling Your Outfits
If you find someone, you can then
start working on finding your own consignment clothing items
in your closet. Dig through for items that you do not want
to wear any more, but that are in great shape and are still
somewhat in style. These are the items that are going to
sell the best.
Assign a price, but be willing to drop
that price if the person in the consignment shop tells you
otherwise. You can also find many ways to sell your items
online through the same set up as well. You may find that to
be even more successful.
Make sure all consignment clothing
items that you wish to sell are laundered, free of stains,
and repaired if there are any flaws. What may seem like an
old item to you may be new and fresh to someone else who
also want to save money. Your old wardrobe will be great for
someone else's new wardrobe.
Don't forget to include older shoes
and other accessories that you may not want to own any
longer. New items you have never worn are great, and can be
sold for more than worn items.
Lastly, remember that even though you
are getting rid of things that you no longer wear, there are
others that have like new used items or maybe even complete
outfits that may be just what you are looking for. You could
find new items to mix with the ones that you have at home to
keep your wardrobe updated and new.
You do not have to spend a ton of
money to get new clothes when they are obviously not in your
budget at the moment. Consignment clothing can be the answer
to keep you in new items while you save a ton of money at
the same time.
