Wear a short dress to ice skate

With this extra cold winter season more and more girls are going ice skating. What dresses are they wearing? What should you wear to the rink or lake?

Cool Dresses for Ice Skating

The Skate is Only Half the Fun

My daughters absolutely idolize figure skaters. They watch all the major competitions, from the Olympics to the World Championships, and have even started participating in the sport themselves. They just started a year ago, but have already made significant progress in that time.

At first I was worried that they wouldn't be dedicated enough to wake up early and head to practice before school, but I have to admit I was dead wrong. Now they're gearing up for their first competition in a few weeks, which is both exciting and a bit scary. Even I have some prep work to do, as I have to find them a couple of ice skating dresses to wear during the event.

Making These Clothes - No Easy Task

Perhaps someone more skilled with a sewing machine could simply make ice skating dresses, but since I'm all thumbs, I won't even bother trying. Besides, I doubt I could handle all the sparkling sequins and other baubles that separate these costumes from regular outfits, so it's definitely easier just to buy them. Towards that end, I've been shopping for ice skating dresses online and have already found some really cute ones that I think my girls would like.

Shopping and Fashion Trends

I was very pleased with the sheer number of ice skating dresses for girls that I had to choose from. For some reason, I was afraid that our options would be severely limited or that we would have to pay truly outrageous prices to get the apparel we wanted. After all, this is specialty clothing that you can't just buy from the mall.

But as it turned out, there was nothing to worry about. I found plenty of ice skating dresses direct from the manufacturer at low prices. These ranged from more subdued practice outfits to dazzling competition ensembles that are sure to wow the judges and the crowd.

The girls had a lot of fun looking through all the lovely dresses and fashion trendy outfits that I pointed out, and since the costumes are so inexpensive, I can let them get virtually anything they want without having to be concerned about going over budget.

At the next practice, we're going to talk to the girls' coach about what kind of ice skating dresses would best match the music they've already chosen for their routines. I've printed out pictures of all the outfits the girls like, and will ask for the coach's input on them. I figure she would know better than us since she has more experience, so we don't mind deferring to her judgment.

I can't wait to buy these new ice skating dresses and see my daughters don them for their upcoming competition. I'm getting just as excited as the girls themselves at the prospect of seeing them spinning, twirling, and jumping all over the rink in their brand-new costumes. Win or lose, they're going to look utterly fabulous because I know what they can wear!
